Market Information

Aluminum was first used about 100 years ago as a decorative metal. The first large construction to use it was the Empire State Building in New York. Since then, mass production grew its utilization in various markets such as automotive, aerospace, building products, beverage cans, packaging, foil, electronics and appliances.

Aluminum has a lot to offer. It resists amazingly well to corrosion, is very easy to form and shape with a high weight-to-strength ratio. Aluminum is also one of the most efficient energy efficient and recyclable materials. It is estimated that 70% of the aluminum ever produced is still in use today.

BUILDING PRODUCTS

Jupiter Aluminum’s alloys are ideal components of building products. From this perspective, aluminum is a material of choice. Aluminum structures can weigh between 35% and 65% less than steel in constructions. Most modern buildings contain a high ratio of aluminum.

The very first addition to a building was the pyramidal top of the Washington Monument in Washington DC. At the time, the value of aluminum for the pyramidal top was higher than its weight in gold.

Aluminum in construction is the ideal material of choice. Its mechanical properties have conquered numerous builders who find in the metal the answers to the constant challenges faced in construction: formability, anti-corrosion, durability…

Jupiter Aluminum products are made of 3,000’s series alloys and ideally match the constructors’ expectations. Our alloys are 95% recycled aluminum based which renders their carbon footprint extremely low.

The aluminum scrap is melted and rolled into new coils 24/7. The aluminum coils are then shipped to our two painting facilities in Indiana and West Virginia where they are coated and finished to our customers’ specifications.

AUTOMOTIVE

Aluminum offers numerous advantages to the automotive market. It is light, energy efficient, easy to form, recyclable and therefore represents a more environment-friendly solution. The body structures are comparable to steel and can absorb more crash-induced energy.

Aluminum allows the vehicle to have an excellent performance thanks to its light weight. Almost 3 times lighter than steel, aluminum allows to downsize many components of a vehicle such as the engine, the transmission, the body, the wheels, etc. Aluminum has become the material of choice in a vehicle as it can be used pretty much everywhere without compromising its integrity, resistance and longevity.

Other Markets

Aluminum can also be seen in various other markets. Easy to form and transport, corrosion resistant and almost indefinitely recyclable, aluminum has become the material of choice in many industries. You can find irrigation systems in crop fields. The pipes stay on the ground as they do not rust. Aluminum can also be found on cars as license plates. Jupiter Aluminum produces coils turned into millions of plates every year in North and Central America.
